Paramyxovirus

Paramyxovirus hosts the same family of viruses including measles, mumps, and respiratory tract infections. These viruses are known to cause mild or severe upper and lower respiratory tract infections, particularly in children.

Transmission:

All members of the paramyxoviridae family spread through the respiratory route and are highly contagious. All of the paramyxoviruses are transmitted through the respiratory route. Because of this, they are highly contagious.

Symptoms:

Symptoms begin first in the respiratory tract thought they may spread to other areas of the body. These include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Runny nose
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Pink eye.
  • Maculopapular rash
  • Koplik’s spots (Irregular, bright-red spots on mucosal membranes with bluish-white speck at center)
