A fast-acting, ready-to-use disinfectant with a colorless, odorless formula

PURE Hard Surface is powered by Silver Dihydrogen Citrate (SDC), a patented formula of electrolytically generated silver ions stabilized in citric acid. It is colorless, odorless, ready to use, and leaves no dulling residue on treated surfaces.

For research and life science facilities, PURE Hard Surface offers a combination of fast contact times, a colorless and odorless formula, and no dulling residue. It is also registered as a food contact surface sanitizer, with no rinsing required after sanitizing when used as directed on the label.

PURE Hard Surface disinfects without bleaching and contains no VOC emitting ingredients. It is registered with NSF International under Nonfood Compounds (D2, #144518) and is certified Kosher, Pareve.

PURE Hard Surface meets requirements for Toxicity Category IV. Under EPA's labeling system, no signal word ("Danger," "Warning," or "Caution") is required for this category, and no first aid statements are mandated on the label. Always review the product label and SDS before use.

The label carries 30 second kill time claims for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) on hard non-porous surfaces, and for Influenza A (H1N1), Human Coronavirus, Rotavirus, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Adenovirus Type 2, Avian Influenza A, HIV-1, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella enterica. The label's directions for use specify longer visibly wet contact times for some of these organisms. Always follow the contact times in the directions for use, and see the Pathogens tab.

PURE Hard Surface is registered as a food contact surface sanitizer for countertops, equipment surfaces, and processing areas, with a 60 second contact time and no rinsing required after sanitizing for consumer use. Commercial and food processing directions require cleaning and a potable water rinse before applying. Do not use on utensils, dishes, or glassware.

PURE Hard Surface uses a patented silver ion formula (U.S. Patents 6,197,814; 6,583,176). The active ingredients are silver ion (0.003%) and citric acid (4.846%), with electrolytically generated silver ions stabilized in citric acid as silver dihydrogen citrate.

PURE Hard Surface is EPA-registered for efficacy against bacteria, drug-resistant organisms, viruses, and fungi. Contact times below follow the directions for use on the EPA accepted label (May 25, 2021), EPA Reg. No. 72977-5. Pre-clean surfaces before use, and keep surfaces visibly wet for the full contact time. Always check the product label for contact times before use.

Conditions of use: These claims apply to pre-cleaned environmental surfaces and objects previously soiled with blood or body fluids in health care settings (or other settings with an expected likelihood of soiling with blood or body fluids). Blood and other body fluids must be thoroughly cleaned from surfaces before application. When handling items soiled with blood or body fluids, use appropriate barrier protection such as latex gloves, gowns, masks and eye coverings. These contact times will not control all organisms listed on the label. Blood and other body fluids should be autoclaved and disposed of according to federal, state and local regulations for infectious waste disposal.
30 second kill time claims: The label carries 30 second kill time claims for SARS-CoV-2 (on hard, non-porous surfaces), Human Coronavirus, Influenza A (H1N1), Swine Influenza A (H1N1), Influenza A (Hong Kong strain), Avian Influenza A (on pre-cleaned environmental hard surfaces), Respiratory Syncytial Virus, Adenovirus Type 2, Rotavirus, HIV-1, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella enterica. The label's directions for use specify 1 minute for viruses and 2 minutes for bacteria, so always follow the contact times in the directions for use and confirm on the product label.
Note on tuberculocidal coverage: PURE Hard Surface does not carry a registered tuberculocidal claim. Facilities requiring tuberculocidal disinfection as a baseline for biosafety protocols, common in BSL-2 and BSL-3 environments, should review Anlage QTB or other products in the Quip Labs line. No VOC Emitting Ingredients

PURE Hard Surface contains no VOC emitting ingredients. The SDS lists VOC content as 0.00% (0.000 lbs/gallon).

Disinfects Without Bleaching

PURE Hard Surface disinfects without bleaching. It is formulated to treat hard, non-porous environmental surfaces, including painted surfaces, glazed tile, plastic, non-porous vinyl, metal, glass, and the other surfaces listed on the EPA label. See the Applications tab.

No Rinsing Required for Food Contact Sanitizing

When used as a food contact surface sanitizer for consumer use, no rinsing is required after the 60 second contact time. Commercial and food processing directions require cleaning and a potable water rinse before applying, and no potable water rinse is allowed after application as a sanitizer. Do not use on utensils, dishes, or glassware.

Use directions: Pre-clean surfaces prior to using this product, and keep surfaces visibly wet for the full contact time. This product is not to be used as a terminal sterilant/high level disinfectant on any surface or instrument that (1) is introduced directly into the human body, either into or in contact with the bloodstream, or normally sterile areas of the body, or (2) contacts intact mucous membranes but which does not ordinarily penetrate the blood barrier or otherwise enter normally sterile areas of the body. This product may be used to pre-clean or decontaminate critical or semi-critical medical devices prior to sterilization or high level disinfection. It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

The EPA requires every registered pesticide (including disinfectants) to carry a signal word based on its acute toxicity profile. "Danger" is required for Category I products, "Warning" for Category II, and "Caution" for Category III. PURE Hard Surface meets requirements for Toxicity Category IV, for which no signal word is required. Users must still follow the directions and precautions on the product label, and an SDS should be kept on file.
Surfaces must be pre-cleaned and remain visibly wet for the full contact time. Per the directions for use on the EPA accepted label: 2 minutes for bacteria, including MRSA and VRE; 1 minute for viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and RSV; and 5 minutes for the fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes. On pre-cleaned surfaces soiled with blood or body fluids in health care settings, HIV-1 requires 30 seconds, and HBV and HCV require 1 minute. As a food contact surface sanitizer, surfaces must remain visibly wet for 60 seconds. The label also carries 30 second kill time claims for certain organisms, including SARS-CoV-2 on hard, non-porous surfaces. No. PURE Hard Surface does not carry a registered tuberculocidal claim. Tuberculocidal registration requires demonstrated efficacy against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and this is often a baseline requirement in biosafety protocols for BSL-2+ environments and certain institutional disinfection policies. If tuberculocidal coverage is a requirement for your facility, we recommend reviewing Anlage QTB, our EPA-registered tuberculocidal RTU disinfectant.

Yes. PURE Hard Surface is EPA-registered as a food contact surface sanitizer and is NSF International Listed under Nonfood Compounds (D2, #144518). For consumer applications, spray or spread on the pre-cleaned surface until visibly wet, let stand for 60 seconds, and wipe with a clean towel or allow to air dry. No rinsing is required. For commercial food processing applications (dairies, restaurants, food processing plants), follow the Clean-Rinse-Sanitize protocol: wash with a detergent or cleaner and rinse with potable water before applying, keep surfaces visibly wet for 60 seconds, and allow to drain and air dry. No potable water rinse is allowed after application as a sanitizer. Do not use on utensils, dishes, or glassware. Always follow label directions for the specific application type.
The EPA label does not list personal protective equipment requirements for general use, and no first aid statements appear on the label. When handling items soiled with blood or body fluids, the label directs users to use appropriate barrier protection such as latex gloves, gowns, masks and eye coverings. For eye contact guidance and full safety handling information, refer to the product SDS. Facilities may have their own internal PPE requirements, and EHS programs should review the SDS in the context of their chemical hygiene plans. Always follow the directions on the product label.
The label describes PURE Hard Surface as colorless and odorless, with no dulling residue, and states that it disinfects without bleaching.
